Southwest Medical Associates partners with “The Cocktail Cabaret” for June 27 finale of virtual concert series

June 16, 2020 by 215staff

Southwest Medical Associates is partnering with “The Cocktail Cabaret” for the June 27 final show of its Facebook Live “Healthy at Home” virtual concert series. In partnership with the TCS Entertainment Community Relief Fund, $5 per live view will be donated to the local fund, up to a total value of $5,000.

The free June 27 concert is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. and be shown live on the Facebook page of Southwest Medical Associates. The medical group hosted its first Facebook Live concert at the beginning of May to kick off its “Healthy at Home” virtual concert series to entertain Nevadans and others who have been staying home and adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Direct from a year-long engagement at Caesars Palace and recent South Florida tour, “The Cocktail Cabaret” stars four powerhouse entertainers – Niki Scalera (“Hairspray,” “Tarzan,” “Footloose”), Eric Jordan Young (“Rock of Ages,” “Vegas! The Show,” “Ragtime,” “CHICAGO,” “Seussical the Musical,” “Look of Love,” “Dreamgirls”), Maren Wade (“America’s Got Talent,” “Confessions of a Showgirl,” “Pin Up,” “50 Shades! The Parody”) and Ron Remke (“Baz,” “Jubilee”).  The fantastic four-piece band is led by renowned pianist Philip Fortenberry (“Behind the Candelabra”), drummer Don Meoli (“Jersey Boys”), bassist Josh Jones (“Million Dollar Quartet”) and saxophonist Eric Tewalt (“Celine”).

During this 30-minute virtual concert, the cast will present all original songs, including three songs from the original show.  “The Cocktail Cabaret” is designed to lift spirits and put an audience in a festive mood.  The show was honored in 2018 by the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” awards.

The TCS Entertainment Community Relief Fund was started by The Composers Showcase (TCS), a Nevada nonprofit that is co-founded and hosted by Keith Thompson, one of our city’s most popular composers and music directors. The mission of TCS is to provide a platform and forum for composers and lyricists to share their original music and to encourage new collaborations. Since its inception 16 years ago, the Composers Showcase, specifically its eight years in Myron’s Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center, has showcased songwriters as well as world-class singers and musicians in Las Vegas.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the local entertainment industry, TCS found a way to give back to help out of work performers, musicians and the entertainment community.  To make a donation or for more information, visit https://thecomposersshowcase.com/donations/donations-relief-fund
