Clark County to Offer Free Registration in School Daze Program

September 2, 2020 by 215staff

Clark County has received limited funding to support families enrolling students in the School Daze Program.  As a result of COVID-19 and the continued closure of public school facilities, School Daze is a program where school age children can participate in distance learning in a supervised and socially distanced environment. Any student who qualifies for free or reduced lunch through the Clark County School District can register into the program at no charge.

To qualify, parents or guardians must come in person to the School Daze location they will be attending with the following:

  • A letter from the Clark County School District confirming that their child(ren) qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.
  • Completed Parks and Recreation School Daze Registration Form.

After initial registration with qualifying paperwork is complete, future registration can be done online at www.clarkcountynv.gov/parks.  Pre-qualified parents who need copies of their letters may obtain them by contacting CCSD food service at: (702) 799-8123.  To apply for free or reduced lunch, please complete an on-line application at: https://www.ccsd.net/departments/food-service/free-reduced-online-application.  Once approved, CCSD will provide a letter confirming eligibility.

“Many parents are faced with economic difficulties due to the pandemic,” said Clark County Parks and Recreation Director Daniel Hernandez, “we hope to help to ease some of those challenges for working parents by providing a safe place for their children.”

Parents who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch through CCSD can still register for the program at a rate of $20 per day.  Registration is on a first come first served basis and parents can enroll their child in the program beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the Wednesday before the upcoming week.

School Daze is designed for children ages five to twelve years of age and will run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Socially distanced activities will include educational time, games, arts n’ crafts, sports and themed activities. Parents and participants will be required to go through a daily intake process that includes temperature checks and completing a Daily Wellness Acknowledgement Form. Staff working in the program will be required to wear masks and parents are asked to provide a personal, reusable mask for their child. Participants are required to bring their own lunch and snack that doesn’t require heating or cooling.  All surfaces and equipment will be cleaned with disinfectant regularly.
