What draws you to participate in the Skye Canyon community:
We have done several Skye Canyon events over the past three years, including ChalktoberFest and the Christmas Pray for Snow Festivals. We really enjoy participating in these events because Britney and Kendal are very friendly, organized and professional, making for an enjoyable outing. Their events are well attended and the Skye Canyon residents are always so friendly and engaging.
What types of art do you do?
We offer various types of abstract acrylic paintings, alcohol ink stained glass, unique lamps made from various types of wood, glass, and metals, and seasonal crafts.
What go you into this business?
After we both retired (Dean from Clark County, Deb from City of Las Vegas), we decided we needed to find something to both have fun, and keep us busy. Thus, Open Minded Artistry was born. Dean’s been able to tap into his love of art, researching different and/or creating new methods of applying both ink and paint, working with clients on custom pieces, and continuously looking for new projects. While Dean’s the artist, I am known as Paperwork Girl! My job is to keep track of the books, research and apply for shows, keep all licenses up to date, inventory and log product, etc. Together we cover all the bases!
What do you like best about the business?
I think the very best part of the business is the people we’ve met and the friends we’ve made!
